Welcome

In class 3 we have wrapped up our India topic with some fantastic pieces of work on show in our classroom!

Following on from this, we are well underway our next topic, investigating The Environment. I am especially excited about this topic as it gives the class a brilliant opportunity to look at ways they can really make a difference to the world around them. We will be looking at pollution and its effects as well as all the things we can do to reduce it. We have created a really effective 3D cityscape in our classroom which demonstrates all the electricity we use as well as the power stations that burn the natural resources to supply it! I have been amazed by the thoughtfulness of the class and all the bright ideas (excuse the pun) they have come up with to tackle this problem! Following this we will also be investigating recycling both at home and in school with a view to really making a difference to the way we get rid of our rubbish!

Alongside our main topic work, class 3 will also be learning French with Mrs. Trainer and partaking in Cricket lessons with our resident Cricket coach once a week.

Our class sharing library is now up and running, with a wealth of books available to the children once they have shared just one book themselves. The children who are involved so far have found it enjoyable to be able to take home books of their own choice to read alongside their school reading book.

As we approach the Summer term we will start to think about some modern History as part of our final main topic of the year ‘The 1960s’.

Homework

Class 3 receive homework on a Friday and are expected to hand it in on the following Tuesday.

Your child will get homework in the form of 2 or 3 objectives. It is up to your child to show they understand the objectives in whatever way they choose.

They should aim to make their work as creative and attractive as possible and it should use no more than a double page spread to do so.

Please try to make sure your child is regularly completing and handing in homework that is of a high standard! Thanks to parents for continued support at home. Please keep practising spellings and reading your child’s books as regularly as possible.
