What have we been up to?
We’ve had a fantastic spring term so far. We kicked it off with our Cober Hill topic and at the end of last half term, we went on our residential visit to Cober Hill. For our Cober Hill topic we did lots of exciting things, we studied coasts, read the spooky story Room 13 and we’ve also been doing orienteering for our PE lessons.
We had a brilliant week at Cober Hill and while we were there, we all wrote in our journals every day. Here are some entries from our journals:

I got on the bus feeling excited, nervous and amazed that I was getting on the bus. The best part was sharing our sweets, I sat next to Alex T. We passed the Fylingdales Early Warning Station. We stopped to have our lunch on a bench next to the Captain Cook Memorial and the Whalebone Arch. We arrived at Whitby at 11.30 and then we walked up the 199 steps, it did not feel like 199 steps I lost count at 31 so unless I climb them again I will never know how many there actually is! At the top of the steps the graves looked really old then further on was a museum inside you were allowed to do stencilling and stamps. Then we went outside to the Whitby Abbey and it was really windy we saw a dungeon and Dracula’s grave then we went back in the museum it was called Cholmley House. We made our way back to the coach so we could go to Cober Hill when we got back we got told what room we was in I was in room 10. We settled in really quick. We all were looking forward to going to bed. Alex T, Tom, Luke and me stayed up for a while when Tom went to sleep he started snoring really loud. At night Luke went to the toilet and on the way back he tripped over his suitcase and then Alex T fell out of bed.
I give this day 9/10.

Today it’s my birthday!!!!!!
For breakfast I had cornflakes, toast and that is all. Then we went for a very very very very tiring 5 mile walk. Soon I am getting changed for my birthday party, I called my mum on the phone she wasn’t well on Monday (that was sad). The five mile walk was exhausting, it made me want to pretend to faint!
At my birthday party we played an operation game, a giant chest game, Twister and a pig game. At dinner time the lights went off, and one of the waiters came out and in his hand was a big chocolate birthday cake for me!
Then we went in to the lounge and read Room 13 with hot coco and my birthday cake. Then we went to sleep.
I give this day 10/10.

Today was a tiring day we did a 32 mile walk for 10 hours, not, just kidding! A 5 mile walk for 4 hours my feet were battered! That reminds me of a joke that Ben C said, “Did you hear about the fish at the fish shop? They got battered!” Anway Mrs Rossell kept joking she said “This is the short cut”. 30 minutes later she said that it was the long way everybody said “Awwwwwww!” Anyway I’m here in my room doing my journal soon I’m going to Isabelle’s party I hope I have a great time. I hope I get some cake mmmmmm yum yum I hope it’s Sponge Bob cake.
I give this day /10

Today I woke up, and I had a really good sleep when our teacher , Mrs Rossell came in we went for our breakfast at the hotel’s restaurant. I had coco pops, toast and egg with bacon. When we finished we went to get ready and got on the coach to get to the Sea Life Centre.
When we got there we went to look at all the fish. There was piranhas, sharks, crabs, seals and penguins. We had a quiz and a guide to show us around the centre. Our guide was called Becky. I liked all the fish in the Sea Life Centre and some were quite scary.
When it got to lunchtime I wondered what I was having. We had lunch in the Sea Life’s cafe. There was an egg mayonnaise sandwich, ham sandwich, crisps, chocolate bar and an apple.
Later we went to the Scarborough swimming baths. I had a nice swim. When we got back on the coach to the hotel, I realised it was a very fun day. When we got to the hotel I had a shower. I then got changed into different clothes, and went for my tea. I had potato and leek soup, fish and chocolate mousse.
Later we went to karaoke to sing songs. Lots of people sang songs but I didn’t want to. After karaoke we read more room 13 and we had some juice. I had a lovely day.

Today, for breakfast we had scrambled egg, sausages and beans. After that we got dressed ready to go down to the theatre. When we got down Mrs Rossell had set up an activity for us. We had to use a map to place loose parts the map. Then we prepared ourselves for an hour of orienteering. When we arrived back at the hotel we had a shower and got dressed then we came into the theatre to make Dream Catchers. So far mine looks fantastic but I bet it will look even better when completed then we went to have tea. We had minestrone soup, for main we had sausage wrapped in bacon and for pudding we had chocolate mousse with cream and cherries on top. After we waited in our rooms while the teachers got the theatre set up for the disco. Then Mrs Rossell came to get us ready for the disco. The disco shattered most of us out, probably everyone wanted to go to bed but there was still more to come before the day ended. During the disco I got dragged out for a strange reason by Mrs Rossell into the corridor where Mrs and Mr Rossell’s room was. Then Mr Rossell took me into his room and he explained I was to have my face painted. Once it was finished, Mr Rossell put a cloak on me. When everyone was in the lounge Mr Rossell led me outside the lounge ready to enter the room when I laid on the floor every class member was mumbling about what happened to me. When it was all over we had a drink of juice while Mrs Rossell gave out certificates. I got Dracula of the week!
I give this day 10/10.

On Friday after breakfast, we all went to our room’s to pack. The bed that I slept on the first night had been folded up!! When I had finished I went down to the theatre and on the way I saw Tom throw his case down the stairs! We got on the coach and came back to school. My mum took me to McDonalds and I saw Mr and Mrs Rossell! I also saw Hannah and her mum (Mrs Cooper).

Homework
Class 4 receive homework on a Friday and are expected to hand it in on Tuesday. Children will complete homework in their homework books. Our aim is to make homework as enjoyable for you and your child as possible. Your child will get homework in the form of up to 2 objectives. It is up to your child to show they understand the objectives in whatever way they choose. They should aim to make their work as creative and attractive as possible and it should use no more than a double page spread to do so.
