Welcome to Class R
Well, where is the time going! Since returning after Christmas, the boys and girls in Class R have all settled well into full days at school. It’s wonderful to see so many happy children, smiling as they come into school and we are enjoying becoming a strong team.
We have been using information books to answer questions about different places in the world. We have learnt about the Arctic and Antarctica and found out lots of facts about polar bears, penguins and Inuit people. Ask us a question and we’ll have the answer or a good idea how to find out!
This half term we will be enjoying getting outdoors and planting seeds and bulbs as part of our growing topic. We are looking forward to getting our wellies and waterproofs on to work in our allotment plot.
Our PE sessions are Monday and Thursday, please remember your kit especially as Spring is coming and we will work outside whenever we can.
Homework
Class R take home their reading book every night and are encouraged to share stories and read little and often as an enjoyable 10 minutes is much better than a difficult half an hour. We take home flashcards of our high frequency words and our letter sounds.
We also have our sound & actions and our counting rhyme books, which we take home for our grown – ups to enjoy with us.
Activities and games that support what we have been learning in class are sent home for us to show our grown ups what we’ve been up to. Thanks to parents for continued support in school and at home.
