SEPT 2009

A big welcome back to everyone- I am sorry I wasn’t around school during the first week, but I contracted a viral infection which unfortunately put me to bed for most of the week!! But I knew the school was in safe hands and everything went according to plan..

HELPERS

One or two parents have made enquiries about the possibility of helping out in school. Without wanting to offend anyone, we have at the moment a significant number of college & university students attached to the school, who will be fulfilling their course requirements, therefore we haven’t got the capacity to accommodate any more volunteers in school. However, your support with the friends group would I am sure be greatly appreciated. The group meet in school every 2nd Tuesday in the month. Their next meeting will be 13th October if you would like to join them.

TUITION FEES

For those children who are receiving musical tuition, the fees for the term are now due and can be paid at the school office.

MILK

If you are wishing for your child to have milk this term then can I remind you that cost will be £8 and needs to be paid in at the office as soon as possible. .

SCHOOL PHOTOS

On Friday 25th September we have the school photographer in school. If you would like to have a group photograph with siblings who are not at our school, then please come to school between 8.30 & 9.00, the photographer will take those photographs first.

CHANGES

You will have noticed a few changes in and around school since July. Mr Harris our Premise Manager has been very busy both undertaking much of the work himself, as well as overseeing external workmen on the site.

  • I am sure you will agree that the changes to the main entrance, has been an extremely worthwhile venture and provides a more welcoming setting to our school. Sadly the builders have not fitted the correct coloured carpet, so this will be rectified during half term.
  • The fitting of new doors to the main entrance and KS2 junior entrance, now means that we are secure and have control over who enters the building. A security camera has been fitted and this enabled the office staff to know who is entering the building. Parents will only have access to the building through the main entrance.
  • The hall has been painted and the wood cladding re-varnished with fire retardant varnish, so we now fulfil the fire regulations.
  • KS2 toilets have been refurbished to the standard of those in F2 and KS1
  • The fenced allotment area is taking shape nicely and the poly-tunnel and vegetable beds are now in place ready for the children to start planting
  • A new gas boiler has been fitted and will with out doubt be a more efficient heating system

The windows and doors all around school are due to be replaced over the half term holiday.

MISS HORNSHAW

During the holiday Miss Hornshaw got married and will now been known as Mrs Rossell.

P.E

To ensure that all children participate in PE could all parents check with the class teacher as to when the class has PE/swimming, this ensures that all children participate appropriately dressed.

A reminder that children are only allowed to wear small ear studs and watches in school. This rule is in place to fulfil H&S requirements. Staff would ask that parents of younger children ensure that these items are not worn on PE days, as children must be able to remove & replace them themselves.

LOST PROPERTY

We have accumulated a significant amount of lost property since last term, therefore we intend having items on display before & after school on Friday 2nd October in the hall, providing an opportunity for you to see whether any items may belong to your children. Many items are practically brand new!! To prevent items getting lost, it is very important that uniform is labelled clearly,
